Moore Philharmonic Presents Holiday Concert

By Kaylie Morgan Special to The Pilot Dec 8, 2023

The Moore Philharmonic Orchestra warmly invites you to a night of merriment and musical fun with its 19th annual holiday concert. While we can’t provide chestnuts roasting on an open fire, MPO is happy to give back to our community by sharing music that makes our world merry and bright.

The performance will be held Saturday, Dec. 16, at 7 p.m., at Pinecrest High School’s Robert E. Lee Auditorium. Whether you enjoy the holiday classics or prefer a modern sound this season, we have the song for you. Bring your friends and family for a concert experience that’s sure to warm your hearts. Not even the grinchiest of grinches can steal this holiday spirit! Admission is by donation of choice; any amount is greatly appreciated. Proceeds fund MPO’s scholarship programs, music, operating expenses and more. Arrive early to take part in the gift basket raffle. Doors open at 6 p.m.

In this season of celebrations, what are you most excited about for? Perhaps this is a season of firsts for you, or maybe it heralds the return of traditions long treasured. All the same, those moments are eagerly anticipated. You see the wonder in your child’s eyes for the first time as they marvel at the lights around them. You see the joy in your partner’s smile as they put the finishing touches on the tree. You see your parents’ delight as they walk into your new home, admiring the thoroughly decked halls and festive trimmings. And perhaps you see the mischief in your pet’s eyes as they inspect the new decorations a bit too closely; surely nothing could go wrong if you turn your back for a moment. Tis the season, after all, to make memories we will treasure for years to come.

We gather together now to celebrate all we’ve accomplished in the year gone by, and to hope for good things in the year to come. The food and drink we share nourishes the body, and the laughter shared nourishes the soul. We marvel at the children who’ve grown in the blink of an eye. We welcome new faces with open arms, and raise a glass in remembrance to those who’ve gone before us. And when all the merry-making has subsided for the night, we sit in the quiet stillness and reflect on all the gifts life has given us. They didn’t arrive in a box tied with a bow, but they’re the most precious gifts of all.

The gift of community is the most valuable gift we can share with one another. When we come together and share a happy moment together, we forge bonds with those around us that can weather the stormiest of seasons. Now more than ever, that sense of togetherness and belonging is invaluable. It allows us to set aside what divides us and remember what unites us.

In those moments of warmth and joy, we can experience true peace on Earth.

The Moore Philharmonic’s 19th season continues the tradition of bringing joy to the community with their annual holiday concert at Pinecrest High School’s Robert E. Lee Auditorium at 7 p.m., on Saturday, Dec. 16. Admission is a donation of choice.
